In the limits of Provence and Dauphiné
After the famed Fontaine de Vaucluse immortalised par PETRARCH, the chief watercourse flowing off le Mont Ventoux is the Toulourenc, a small river that has its source at the foot of the Château of AULAN, near MONTBRUN LES BAINS. For 30 km it cuts deep gorges through a narrow valley, flowing finally into the Ouvèze passing through several picturesque spots, as it sets the northern limit of Ventoux. Along its course is a string of medieval villages with their ruined medieval castles : MONTBRUN LES BAINS, REILHANETTE, SAVOILLANS, BRANTES, SAINT LEGER and ENTRECHAUX, each of which is described on pages 22 or 23, and in the book "Pays de Sault et d'Albion" published by les Alpes de Lumière and on sale at the Tourist Office of Sault.
